October was National Cyber Security Awareness Month! To celebrate, this year Information in Bloom posted a security tip per day via Instagram. Ranging from small reminders, such as not to leave devices unattended at coffee shops, to advice for protecting against SIM swapping attacks, these daily reminders are intent to show that information security is everyone's business.
With the month now at a close, below is a slider with a few favorites. How many do you practice?
- No excuses; just do it.
- Have a plan, whatever your size.
- Plugging in unknown USB sticks is an absolute no-no.
- Make sure you’ve got up-to-date antivirus or malware defence software installed.
- If you’ve never met a person offline, they may not be who you think they are.
- In addition to theft, an attacker can cause chaos or steal data in seconds. Don't risk it.
- Don’t lock your network without hiding the key.
- Don’t let one password vulnerability turn into all of them.
- Much like the canine kind, digital PUPS (potentially unwanted program or applications), can cause big mischief.
- Help your memory and keep things clean
